"Smitten With Mittens" Design Contest

"Smitten with Mittens" call for design contest entries

Announcing a Mitten Design Contest for Knitters & Crocheters!

Calling All Designers and Those Who Want to Try Designing!

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at designing? Are you a Designer? Do you want to help a local charity meet their goals? Do you ever look at a pattern and say "I could design one of those!"?

Well, you are in luck!

Mittens for Detroit and The Yarn Stop are sponsoring a Mitten Design Contest beginning on August 1, 2018 and running through September 22, 2018.

There will be 12 finalists who will have their design featured in the Smitten with Mittens 2019 Calendar published by Mittens for Detroit. The top design will be featured on the cover of the calendar. The calendar will also feature all 12 patterns!

As with any contest, there are a few rules and conditions which are outlined in detail in the Contest Rules PDF Packet. To highlight a few:
  1. Open to all knitters and/or crocheters.
  2. We ask that you support local yarn stores for your materials.
  3. Mittens only. Sorry, no fingerless mittens or gloves. A mitten is defined as a glove with two sections - one for the thumb and the other for all four fingers.
  4. Be fun, wacky, creative, inventive - your imagination is your only limitation!

Interested? Download the packet from http://bit.ly/SmittenWithMittensDesignContest.

Deliver your completed entry packet and sample pair via mail postmarked no later than 9/22/18. You can also deliver the pair to The Yarn Stop by 5pm on 9/22/18.

Finalists will be notified and announced around 10/10/18.

All mitten samples will be donated to Mittens for Detroit for distribution this winter.

Questions? Please contact Wendy at Mittens for Detroit or
Sam at The Yarn Stop.

This contest is sponsored and conducted by Mittens for Detroit and The Yarn Stop for the
express purposes of promoting yarn arts, collecting and inspiring donations of handmade
mittens, and creating a calendar to be sold as a fundraiser for Mittens for Detroit.
